PSYCHOLOGY OF ATTENTION
I came across the above photo the other night doing some late-night research on attention, social platforms, marketing, branding and I found it amazing.
No wonder Instagram and Facebook are taking over the attention of everyone on their phones. People, by nature, are curious. That is why we were able to harness fire to live, to build weapons to kill food, to build homes/shelter to survive, to invent language to communicate. We are curious creatures and also problem solvers. It is why humans thrive.
Some might say that the current state of society is bad that we are glued to social networks that we know everything that everyone is doing. And yes, there are definitely some bad aspects, but in my mind the good far outweighs the bad.
Imagine being able to post a photo, a message, a video and being able to be in front of a captive audience of thousands, if not, tens of thousands of people immediately. This is why print is dying, heck it is basically dead. You used to pay thousands of dollars a month to get in front of a captive audience and then there was no personality behind the ad.
Today, if you are a business owner or Entrepreneur you have ability to get in front of your audience at your fingertips (literally) and for a fraction of the cost.
But there is a right way and a wrong way…
That is the code that I’m trying to crack. The code of attention. The effectiveness of the content. I love this Sh*t! It is why I spent 18 months researching and another 18 months writing ‘The Psychological Approach to Sell Real Estate’. I was fascinated to find out why homebuyers might buy one property over another. And this research led to our documented approach that has helped hundreds of clients put additional profits in their pocket when selling. We studied Steve Jobs, we studied Human Psychology and we cracked the code… ‘rule of 3’s … the ‘contrast principal’ … ‘story selling’
Now, I’m turning my attention to growing brands via Social Media. Growing our own, our company, and then the guests of Frederick Advice Givers. I’m constantly researching and studying those who do it well.
This led me to this research where ‘the human brain processes images 3x faster than text.’ And 90% of all information that comes to the brain is ‘visual’ among others.
So, it goes without saying… The more strategic your content with visual content, the better.
This will take me another 18 months to figure it out, and when I crack that code just like I did on our Documented Approach I’ll be able to help a larger audience make an impact.
Hollar if you have questions, have insight on social branding, or wanna chat. Love the ongoing conversations!
